Research Fellow

Stephen D. Agyeman, Ph.D., is a researcher, writer, and policy advocate with expertise electricity and industrial sector decarbonization. His research focuses on low-carbon fuel substitution, emerging clean technologies innovation, energy economics, and policy regulation. At Project Drawdown, he is a research fellow focused on solution assessment projects in the electricity and transport sector climate solutions.

Stephen's career has spanned the globe, encompassing the electric power sector, academia, policy think tanks, and international development with organizations such as Genser Energy Ghana, the World Bank Group, and the University of Strathclyde. He received a Ph.D. degree in energy economics and management from Xiamen University, where he researched the modeling of energy sector (de)regulation's contribution to advancing negative emission technology innovation in African regions.

Outside of work, Stephen finds joy in watching and playing soccer, volunteering for community work, reading, writing and traveling.
