Project Drawdown is heading to COP31
This November, Project Drawdown will be in Antalya, Türkiye, for COP31, the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Project Drawdown Executive Director Jonathan Foley, Ph.D., and Board Chair Stephan Nicoleau will be on the ground in Antalya sharing how science can supercharge climate action and ensure every dollar, moment, and resource moves us closer to a world without a climate crisis.
Each year, world leaders gather at COP alongside scientists, business leaders, NGOs, activists, and more to discuss the most pressing issues in the global effort to stop climate change and agree on shared targets for climate action.
The stakes have never been higher.
In a recent report, the United Nations Environment Programme declared that it is no longer possible to hold warming to the 1.5°C target set during COP21 in 2015. At the same time, the debilitating effects of climate change are starting to disrupt daily life around the world – severing supply chains, exacerbating food shortages, suffocating cities with wildfire smoke, and exposing millions to extreme heat.
But this is no time for doom; it’s time to do.
To that end, Foley and Nicoleau are hosting an event on November 12 at the TED Countdown House, just steps from the negotiating table where world leaders will set climate priorities for the year ahead, and will be meeting with peers across the climate community to advance the dozens of solutions science shows can stop climate change.
Although not in Antalya with Foley and Nicoleau, all of Project Drawdown’s climate experts will be following the conference from afar and are available for media interviews.
