Project Drawdown receives US$750,000 grant from Partners For Change
Funding will advance initiative to advance “triple-win” solutions for climate, nature, and human well-being

Project Drawdown is honored to receive a three-year, US$750,000 grant from the Italian family office Partners For Change (PFC).
The funding will provide startup support for Drawdown Nexus, a major new initiative to help change makers around the world identify, prioritize, and deploy technologies and practices that simultaneously protect nature, improve human well-being, and mitigate climate change. It will also advance efforts to shift the global conversation at the intersection of the three areas of global concern from doom and gloom to hope and possibility.
“Our goal is to build a framework and tools that key leaders across policy, business, finance, philanthropy, non-profit, and academia can use to target their efforts and investments so they have the greatest possible impact,” says Project Drawdown Senior Scientist Paul West, who is leading the Drawdown Nexus initiative. “Advancing solutions across multiple challenges simultaneously is the key to successfully meeting the most pressing challenges humanity faces today.”
Drawdown Nexus will build on the Drawdown Explorer, Project Drawdown’s soon-to-be-launched signature initiative to maximize the impact of climate action by focusing climate solutions resources on key leverage points with respect to time, sector, and geography.
The PFC-supported work will begin with efforts to identify potential collaborators, existing resources, knowledge gaps, and user needs. Next, Project Drawdown will use that information to develop an online platform that characterizes dozens of solutions across the three areas of concern with respect to benefits, costs, trade-offs, and geographic suitability. Corporate leaders, investors, philanthropists, policymakers, community change makers, and others will be able to use the platform to prioritize actions for greatest impact given their unique set of skills, resources, constraints, and opportunities.
“With its focus on social justice, protecting nature, and solving climate change, PFC is a perfect partner for launching Drawdown Nexus,” West says. “We look forward to pursuing and achieving mutual goals through this important work.”
